Chapter-6 |wedding shopping|

Ishani’s POV:-

The shrill ring of my phone pulled me out of my sleep. Groaning, I reached for it blindly. My voice was grogg

“Hello"

A familiar, cheerful voice greeted me

“Princess! Can you pick me up? Your brother is stuck with work, and I don’t want to wait here forever,” Samir bhai said, half complaining, half laughing.

I rubbed my eyes and sat up. “Samir bhai? You landed already.

“Yes! And I’m starving. So hurry up.

I smiled despite my sleepiness. “Fine, fine. I’ll be there in twenty minutes.

“Good girl,” he said teasingly, and cut the call

I glanced at the clock—8 p.m. already. So I had fallen asleep on bhaiya’s chest again, and he must’ve carried me to my room afterward. My heart warmed. I’m so lucky to have a brother like him.

I changed quickly, grabbed my keys, and headed to the parking lot. Bhaiya had taught me driving on my 18th birthday—it was one of my favorite memories with him.

Soon, I was outside the airport. And there he was—Samir bhaiya, standing near the gate with two heavy suitcases, looking around.

The moment he spotted me, his face lit up. I ran to him, throwing my arms around him. He chuckled, lifting me off the ground and spinning me around like I was still a little girl.

“Careful!” I laughed breathlessly.

“Look at you, princess,” he said, setting me down and tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear.

“You’ve grown prettier."

I blushed, looking away. “I’m fine… how are you, bhaiya."

“Same as always. Irritating, but amazing,” he winked.

I giggled and reached for one of his suitcases, but he immediately stopped me.

“Arrey, what are you doing? You think I’ll let you carry this? No chance.

“Samir bhaiya!” I proteste.

“Nope. You’ll only hold the car keys. That’s your job.” He grabbed the suitcases and walked toward the car, leaving me rolling my eye.

When we sat inside, he took the driver’s seat. “I’m driving, okay."

I just nodded, fastening my seatbelt.

“Where to? Your brother’s company or home?” he asked, glancing at me.

“Home. Bhaiya’s busy, let’s not disturb him.” My gaze shifted out the window.

“Alright,” he said softly, starting the engine.

[At Home]

Once we arrived, I helped with his luggage. Together we carried everything to the guest room. I smiled brightly.

“Rest for a bit, Samir bhai. I’ll go make dinner"

“Dinner? You’re cooking for me? Wah, lucky me.” He grinned.

“I’ll freshen up and come help you.” he said.

“Okay, but don’t mess up the kitchen!” I warned playfully and ran off.

In the kitchen, I began preparing matar paneer and kneading the dough for rotis. The smell of spices filled the room, making me smile. Cooking always calmed me.

Then I heard Samir bhai’s voice behind me, talking on the phone.

“Yeah, I’m in your house now. When will you come? I’m waiting.” He laughed softly, then listened. “Okay, I’ll tell her.

I assumed it was bhaiy.

He walked into the kitchen, smiling. “He isn’t coming. Said he’ll eat outside. So it’s just us tonight. Cook for two"

“Fine,” I said, handing him an apron. “But if you’re here, you’ll help."

He made a face but tied the apron anyway. “Yes, Chef."

[Dinner Table]

After almost an hour, dinner was ready. We sat down at the dining table. I served him rotis, and he took a bite, his eyes widening.

“Wow, princess! This is restaurant-level food. Are you sure you’re not secretly training to be a chef."

I laughed. “If I was, you’d be the first one to know."

As we ate, I remembered my list. “By the way, tomorrow we’re going shopping for the wedding."

He froze mid-bite. “What? Shopping? No way!"

“Yes way.” I crossed my arms, raising an eyebrow.

“Don’t act dramatic. You’ll help me. Understand."

“Why me?” He whined, making a face. “Isn’t there anyone else? Where’s Anuj? Or Avi"

“Bhaiya is drowning in office work. Anuj bhai has company problems. That leaves… you.” I poked his arm with my rot.

He sighed heavily, like I had asked him to climb Mount Everest. “Fine. But I’m telling you now—I hate shopping."

I grinned. “Too bad. You’re stuck with me."

He rolled his eyes, but I caught the smile he tried to hide.

[After Dinner]

I washed the dishes while he lounged on the couch. Once I was done, I walked over.

“Good night, Samir bhai. Sleep well."

“Good night, princess,” he said warmly.

“Tomorrow, you better not drag me around for ten hours.'

“No promises,” I winked, making him groan.

[The Next Morning]

The alarm rang at 7. I jumped out of bed, excitement coursing through me. Today was the start of preparations—decorations, food tasting, buying gifts, planning mehendi, haldi, reception. Two weeks wasn’t enough for everything, but I’d make it work.

After dressing up in a simple kurti, I went to wake Samir bhaiya.

He was still curled up in bed. I shook him gently. “Samir bhai, wake up. We need to go shopping."

He groaned, pulling the blanket over his head. “Five more minutes, princess."

“No!” I pulled the blanket away. “We’ll be late, and I’m not handling this alone."

He sat up, rubbing his eyes. “Why do I feel like I came here to work as your assistant."

“Because you did,” I said sweetly.

After breakfast together, we headed to the mall. My list was long. Dresses, gifts, jewelry, fabrics for decoration… oh, it was going to be a busy day.

But with Samir bhai by my side—even if he complained every five minutes—I knew I wouldn’t feel alone.
